Peter is a mechanical engineer with 20 years experience of living in Africa. British Army trained, he is used to working in extreme circumstances with minimal logistical support.

This experience proves invaluable when dealing with field projects that require both technical expertise and an understanding of local culture.

Based in Diani, on the South Coast of Kenya. Peter uses his experience to ensure all aspects of co2balance Kenya’s work is well co-ordinated and runs smoothly.

Also responsible for the sales side of co2balance Kenya in the coastal area, Peter uses his contacts from 20 years in Kenya to establish awareness in the local business community about the work that co2balance are doing.

 

Mark Simpson Director - mark.simpson@co2balance.com 

Mark's early background as a Research Chemist has been instrumental in setting up the principles behind the co2balance project. More recently, he has specialised in the restoration of period properties across the UK with particular emphasis on energy efficiency ensuring high insulation values are achieved and energy efficient appliances used. The most recent renovation project has involved converting a property to be CarbonZero in its energy usage.


Lucas Belenky    lucas.belenky@co2balance.co.ke

Lucas has specialized in the development of carbon projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. Past projects include the 310 MW Wind Farm at Lake Turkana in Kenya. He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University where he studied sustainability engineering and life-cycle assessment methods. He has previously worked as a civil engineer in the United States and as a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics in Germany. Lucas holds an MSc in Civil & Environmental Engineering (Carnegie Mellon University) and a BSc in Civil Engineering (Bucknell University).

Solace Amboga, solace.amboga@co2balance.co.ke

Solace  has eight years hands-on working experience with rural communities in Kenya, having worked within health projects/programs with various organizations that focus on HIV/AIDS and other ORIDS. She has a diploma in Community Health and Development and has undertaken various other training/courses.

Her experience in working with varying stakeholder groups in society will be an asset for co2balance in the implementation of energy efficient stove projects within Kenyan communities.

Paul Chiplen, Communications Manager - paul.chiplen@co2balance.com 

Paul has merged his keen interest of environmental matters with promotion and PR, and has a local authority background as a Waste Campaigns Officer. Paul has recently project managed a major waste promotional campaign, deigned to raise the awareness of reducing, reusing and recycling waste. He has been heavily involved with media relations and promotional campaigns designed to increase recycling levels and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.
